RANT:Churches and Offerings

I actually got a letter today from a methodist church off of north 48th by the college(which i'm not even a member) asking me to give my tax suppliment check for a better life to myself and to aid the church and church events. This letter is a page long telling me why it's a good idea. Since when does God need fucking money? New stained glass windows? New car for the pastor? Are we really getting to the point people forget what church is for? Now I remember why I no longer attend.

No it just lists all the community benifits from giving them your supplimental check. Then it says that your life will be blissful for donating to the church. About a page of other reasons.

Pastors get a paid home and also a salary. Salary not included with the house ranges from 20,000-60,000 a year depending on the church. They are not hurting by any means. Part of the tithe or offering also goes to their pay.
