View Full Version : Sprocket Sizes? Power commander?

Sprockets - I want to have enough accel to purely throttle up in first without having to clutch it, or grab, let go, and grab again. I just want to be cruisin and nail it and have it come up. What size sprockets should I go with? Would one down in the front and 3 up in the back be sufficient?
And since I've put that pipe on I've noticed when cold and idling it really sounds like its cammin out. Could the pipe have thrown the tune off a bit? Think I should worry about gettin a power commander for it? What if I get a K&N for it?

I know he clutches them up, and thats what I want to do too, I just figure if it'll come up on its own in first, 2nd and 3rd should be easily clutchable

yea, shit if you just got into your powerband and opened it up all the way that mother fucker would prolly come up to b.p with the stock sprockets in first gear. you tried it yet? lol

Uh ya I have, it won't even come off the ground unless I nail it, let off, then nail it again. Pre-loads the spring or sumthin. When I do that It'll come up and if I really really opened it up its possibly, but by that time I'm goin so fast from powering it up that it wont come up.
Hence me wanting sprockets.

When we stopped and you said that I was like huh? It didn't even feel like the front tire even came up really. Power wheelies seem slower and smoother to me, but almost scarier cuz since they're slow you dont know how high its gettin.
Idk hard to explain lol

Last fall when I did them they popped up as quick as a clutched wheelie, but I had just started riding back then and didn't really know wtf I was doin.

The higher sprocket size you go the harder learning how to stunt is gonna be cause everything is more touchy. I could bring up my 6r in 2nd no prob. and still do it on my roommates bike. If you wanna do longer wheelies you gotta pop clutch. Too much wasted rpms from power. Just a little advice plus power wheelies start to get to be a bad habit!!
